What is the cause of rising carbon monoxide levels after purchasing a bearded dragon?

I recently got a bearded dragon and carbon monoxide levels have risen in my home. I believe it may be the heat lamp itself or the heat lamp is burning something within the cage. Has anyone encountered this problem? What is the cause? What is the solution? Thanks.
